DGW 3 Gun Shooting Team - Father’s Day Shoot

3 Gun Shooting Team Detroit

3 Gun Shooting Team
These pictures are of Rick Birdsall, who is a member of the DGW 3 gun shooting team, during a Father’s Day 3 gun match. Rick eventually plans to transition to a “heavy metal” division. The heavy metal division differs from the standard open class in all three weapon platforms. In the heavy metal division the pistol is a 1911 in 45ACP as opposed to the standard 9mm. The rifle platform is a .308 Win (7.62 NATO) instead of the 223 (5.56 NATO). Even though some shooters shoot 7.62x39, in an AK or AR platform, they are still in open class. The shotgun portion must be a 12GA pump gun; instead of the normal gas operated guns.

This is team leader Thomas “Eddy” DuPont. This picture shows him in transition from one station to another. As you can see, there is a lot of running in these shoots so Eddy bikes about 20 miles a day to stay in shape for competition. He is a top notch shooter.

This is Chip Montgomery of Team DGW shooting his AR platform in the Father’s Day shoot.

Manufacturing Lower Receivers like iPhones
This week DGW will take delivery of its newest piece of equipment, a Brother TC-S2Dn 30-taper milling machine. Upon its arrival we will start to automate it with a Fanuc robot creating a cell optimized to make AR-15 Lower Receivers and our 308 Lower Receivers. This is the same type of machine that the manufacturer of iPad and iPhone cases uses to cut all their aluminum.
How To Drill A .308 Upper Receiver
Now that we have implemented our production tooling for manufacturing the AR-15 lower receiver, we want to look for the next project. Of course we will continue to work on getting our 308 lower receiver into production shape, but really that will follow a very similar pattern to the manufacturing process for the AR-15 type lower.

Exploring uppers and lowers in desert digital or urban digital color scheme. A break away from the standard matte black finish, but what does everyone think?
